Syracuse, N.Y. – Le Moyne College is requiring staff and students to wear masks inside campus buildings again, regardless of their Covid-19 vaccination status.

The revised mask policy takes effect Tuesday.

Le Moyne and other colleges such as Cornell are reinstituting mask requirements at a time when Covid-19 cases are rising nationwide, fueled primarily by the Delta variant of the virus.

Le Moyne also mandates Covid-19 vaccinations for all employees and students.

The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is recommending everyone wear masks indoors in counties, such as Onondaga, that are seeing significant levels of new Covid-19 cases.

Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon said today he is mandating masks for staff and visitors at senior living centers, but not at other indoor facilities.

Le Moyne said it decided to require masks indoors “out of an abundance of caution.” The college said it will review its mask policy on an ongoing basis and make changes when necessary.
