Syracuse, N.Y. -- Otto Somppi will be returning to the Syracuse Crunch lineup in 2021-22, while Peter Abbadonato is moving on to a rival.

The Tampa Bay Lightning announced on Wednesday that is has re-signed Somppi, a forward, to a one-year, two-way deal. Somppi, 23, skated in 32 games with the Syracuse Crunch last season, posting 12 goals and 26 points to go along with a +16 rating and 22 penalty minutes.

He ranked tied for first on Syracuse for goals and was third for points and set career highs for goals, assists (14) and points. Somppi has skated in 104 career AHL games, all with the Crunch over the past three seasons, collecting 19 goals and 48 points.

The Laval Rocket released news that it has signed Peter Abbandonato to a one-year deal. The forward played the past two seasons with the Crunch, posting 11 goals and 16 assists in 55 games.
