Watch man get thrown through Armory Square bar window in fight; do you know attacker?

Syracuse, N.Y. – Despite being thrown through the same window twice, a man sustained only minor injuries in a fight outside Mulrooney’s pub in Armory Square on Saturday night.

Now, a video of the fight is circulating, and police are searching for the man who threw him through the bar window.

The fight started inside the bar about 20 minutes before, said pub owner Joe Rainone. He didn’t know why the men were fighting and said they didn’t appear to know one another. Bar employees separated the two and sent one of the men out the front door and the other out the back door.

But they somehow found each other in front of the bar and started fighting again, Rainone said.

At least one bystander, Trent Green of Syracuse, caught the fight in a video he shared on Facebook.

The video shows two men tussling outside the bar before one pushes the other through a window, shattering it. He then punches the man in the face and head as he lays partially inside the restaurant, surrounded by glass. The man who was tossed through the window stands up, throws a punch, then is tossed back through the same window.

Bystanders largely didn’t intervene, but men who appear to work for the bar stepped in to separate the two men and assist the one who had been thrown through the window. He can be seen in Green’s video with blood on his face and head.

Syracuse police spokesman Sgt. Matthew Malinowski said no arrests had been made because the man who appeared to be the aggressor in the fight fled the scene before police arrived. He said the investigation is active and ongoing, and police are looking for information on the man in the video.

The man who was thrown through the window sustained minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene, Malinowski said.

By Monday morning, the window was boarded up and glass sat in a pile on the sidewalk in front of the bar on Fayette Street. Rainone said he didn’t yet know how much it would cost to repair – he had an appointment with a window repair company set for later in the day.

He said he hoped that whoever police arrested would be required to pay for the window and damage to the pub. He called the situation “just craziness.”

“This is definitely the first time in 30 years someone’s been tossed through a window here,” he said.

Police ask that anyone who knows the identity of the man in the video call the department at 315-442-5222.
