Willet, N.Y. – Jackie Beagle and her husband, Sam, were behind the counter at their bait-and-tackle shop early this spring when a stranger walked in, stocked up for a fishing trip and changed their minds.
Before they met him, the couple had no plans to get the coronavirus vaccine. They didn’t trust it, and neither did their friends in the small Cortland County town of Willet. And, as residents of rural Central New York, they figured their risk of catching the virus was low.
