Syracuse, N.Y. -- The Syracuse football program landed a verbal commitment from three-star defensive end Q’yaeir Price over the weekend, bringing its total to eight commitments in the Class of 2022.
Price announced his commitment on Twitter, thanking his coaches and trainers.
Price is from Paterson, N.J., and attends DePaul Catholic High School in Wayne. He is listed by 247 Sports as a three-star prospect who is 6-foot-2 and 255 pounds. The website ranks him as the No. 697 prospect in the country, the No. 102 defensive line prospect and the 14th-best prospect in New Jersey.
In addition to Syracuse, Price was listed by 247 Sports as having a number of Power-Five offers, including West Virginia, Boston College, Indiana, Pittsburgh, Maryland, Buffalo, Connecticut and others. The website listed safety/nickel back coach Nick Monroe as his lead recruiter.
Price is the highest-ranked of Syracuse’s eight current commitments so far. He is one of two ranked among the 1,000-best prospects in the country, joined by Belizaire Bassette, another defensive lineman and Monroe recruit.
Syracuse has also received verbal commitments from three-star prospects Mekhi Mason, LeQuint Allen, Cornell Perry, Malachi Davis, Quan Peterson and Jeremiah Wilson.
All verbal commitments are non-binding until an athlete signs a National Letter of Intent or they enroll in the school.
