Syracuse, N.Y. — A 31-year-old man was critically injured early Sunday when a car struck him as he walked in the area of South Salina Street and West Lynhurst Avenue, city police said.
Someone called 911 at 5:30 a.m. to report a man was unconscious, but breathing, and bleeding from the head after the collision on South Salina Street at West Lynhurst Avenue, according to unofficial police scanner reports.
The pedestrian was taken to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, where he was in critical condition, Syracuse police said.
Police briefly closed the intersection to investigate after the crash. Officers have not commented on details of the crash, however the unofficial scanner reports described the vehicle involved in the crash as a black Mitsubishi car. No other information was immediately available.
“The investigation is active and ongoing,” Syracuse police said in an email.
