Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the scholarship raffle in May. The state plans to raffle a total of 50 scholarships to any public university in New York to kids and teenagers who get vaccinated against Covid-19 in the coming weeks.
The scholarships cover full tuition, room and board to any State University of New York, City University of New York or public community college in the state for four years.
Any 12- to 17-year-old who gets a first dose of a vaccine between now and July 7 is eligible for the raffle. Kids who have already received a vaccine are also eligible.
The state will hold a random drawing for 10 scholarships every Wednesday.
After getting a shot, those who want to enter the raffle must fill out a form at www.ny.gov/vaccinescholarship.
A student at Bishop Ludden in Syracuse was one of the winners in the first drawing earlier this month. So far, no other students from the Syracuse area have won.
