Syracuse, N.Y. – Wells College in Aurora announced today it is requiring all students and employees to get vaccinated against Covid-19 before the start of the fall semester.

The college is asking students and employees to get their second dose of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine , or the single dose of Johnson & Johnson vaccine, no later than Aug. 1 so they will have full immunity before the semester begins.

Wells said exemptions will be allowed for religious beliefs or medical reasons. The College also said it expects the vaccines will receive full FDA approval before the fall semester begins.

“I strongly believe that, as a residential college, the only path for Wells to return to normalcy is through the herd immunity provided through vaccination efforts,” college President Jonathan Gibralter said in a prepared statement.
