The 2021 St. Joseph’s Health Amphitheater at Lakeview lineup is now down to just five concerts as another show has been postponed.

Matchbox Twenty announced Monday it will push back its tour with The Wallflowers to next year due to continued concerns about the Covid-19 pandemic and capacity limits at concert venues. The Rob Thomas-led band was originally scheduled to play the St. Joe’s Amp in 2020, then rescheduled for July 23, 2021, and is now set to visit the Syracuse amphitheater on July 31, 2022.

“Although we are encouraged by the success and speed of the vaccine rollout, there are still far too many varying factors at play,” Matchbox Twenty said in a statement. “This makes it not possible for us to put together the tour we intend to bring to you. We are extremely disappointed to have to make this decision, but we promise that when we return, we will bring you the greatest show we have ever done. Take care of each other and we will see you in 2022.”

Previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new date. Additional tickets are available at LiveNation.com starting at $36.

Other shows at the Amp that have been rescheduled for next year include Santana with Earth, Wind & Fire (pushed back to Aug. 17, 2022); Steely Dan with Steve Winwood (now June 23, 2022); and Goo Goo Dolls (postponed for a date TBA). Disturbed also canceled its 20th anniversary tour with Staind and Bad Wolves.

Just five shows are currently scheduled to take place this summer at the Amp: The Doobie Brothers’ 50th Anniversary Tour with Michael McDonald (Aug. 8); Dave Matthews Band (now scheduled for Aug. 18, 2021); Thomas Rhett (Sept. 16, 2021); Chris Stapleton with Sheryl Crow (Oct. 7, 2021); and the newly added Luke Bryan on July 8, 2021. Tickets for Bryan go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through Live Nation.

The St. Joseph’s Health Amphitheater at Lakeview and other large outdoor performing arts venues are currently allowed to open at 20% capacity; Gov. Andrew Cuomo said capacity will increase to 33% beginning May 19. More may be allowed by July, but the uncertainty could be a financial motivator for artists to postpone shows. All concertgoers are also required to test negative for Covid-19 or show proof of vaccination, as well as wear masks and practice social distancing.

Large stadiums and arenas with a total capacity of more than 10,000 people can currently open with a 10% capacity limit, increasing to 25% on May 19. Smaller arts, entertainment and event venues, including bars and clubs, can currently open at 33% capacity with crowds up to 100 people indoors and 200 people outdoors.
