Syracuse, N.Y. ― In early 2019, the ACC unveiled a three-year plan for the league’s basketball schedule, including the jump from 18 to 20 conference games.

The ACC’s matrix plotted out the home-and-away games for each of the league’s 15 teams for the next three years, beginning with the 2019-20 season.

Despite the coronavirus’ impact on the 2020-21 schedule, which included several postponements and cancellations and almost all games played in empty or near-empty arenas, the ACC will stick to its 3-year plan next year.

Thus, the 2021-22 season will mark the final year of the ACC’s 3-year matrix.

Last season, Syracuse was scheduled to play Louisville both home and away, but had both games against the Cardinals postponed. The schools weren’t able to make up either game.

Syracuse also lost a home game against Florida State and a road game at Wake Forest off its original schedule.

An ACC representative confirmed to Syracuse.com on Monday that the league would continue with Year 3 of its three-year scheduling plan for the upcoming 2021-22 season.

Here is a reminder of what Syracuse’s ACC schedule will look like:

Home-and-away

Syracuse will play six ACC teams twice each; both at home and on the road. Those six opponents include Boston College, Pittsburgh, Duke, Florida State, Wake Forest and Miami.

Home only

Syracuse will face four ACC teams just once with that one game being at home. The Orange will play Clemson, Georgia Tech, Louisville and Virginia at the Carrier Dome.

Away only

SU will play four conference teams just once on the road. Those four teams are North Carolina, N.C. State, Notre Dame and Virginia Tech.

Exact dates and times for games will be determined at a later date.

Syracuse’s non-conference schedule is also coming into focus early.

The Orange is scheduled to play in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament over the Thanksgiving holiday. The tournament’s field consists of Michigan State, Baylor, Auburn, Connecticut, VCU, Loyola Chicago and Arizona State.

Syracuse will face Villanova in the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden. The game will likely be played in December.

Syracuse will participate in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. After playing at Rutgers last year, Syracuse figures to get a home game in the event next season.

The Orange is also slated to play arch-rival Georgetown in Washington D.C. next season.
