CBS21 meteorologist leaves station after 11 years

After 11 years at CBS21, one of the station’s meteorolgists is leaving the station.

Stacey Hanrahan’s last day at the station was Friday. Hanrahan, who is also an assistant news director at the station is taking a job doing communications and outreach for the Susquehanna River Basin Commission.

“It is going to be very hard to walk out that door later today,” Hanrahan said on meteorologist’s Steve Knight’s podcast Friday afternoon. “All I ever wanted to do was journalism since I was a teenager and it’s what I’ve done.”

She has been the content and planning manager, managing editor and assistant news director at the station.

“It’s been the same job,” she said on the podcast. “It’s just had different titles.”

Hanrahan said she is excited to join the Susquehanna River Basin Commission.

Hanrahan started her career in the investigative unit at NBC O&O WTVJ in Miami/Ft. Lauderdale. She also spent time working on their assignment desk before moving to the assignment desk at CBS O&O WFOR, also in the Miami market. She took a break from television news to host infomercials and start her own video production company that focused on the marine industry. She also spent time as a traffic anchor for WGAL and a freelance meteorologist for WJAC in Johnstown.

Hanrahan’s husband, Robb also previously worked for the station as a news anchor. He retired from TV earlier this year after 38 years in television.

“Robb was here as an anchor for a decade as well,” meteorologist Steve Knight said on a CBS21 broadcast on Friday. “The Hanrahans leaving the building. It’s a tough day for us.”
