A black bear spotted climbing a tree in a busy part of York County was picked up and taken to a more rural area, police said.

The bear was discovered Thursday in the area of Mountain Road and Dogwood Lane in Dillsburg, Carroll Township police said.

Officials from the Pennsylvania Game Commission arrived at the scene and tranquilized the bear, “in the interest of the safety of the residents and the bear,” police said in a Friday news release.

Police said the bear was loaded into a trailer and taken to a rural area, unharmed.
