Join JMM and the William and Irene Weinberg Family Baltimore Jewish Film Festival (BJFF) for the Maryland premiere of The Space Torah Project with the film’s director Rachel Raz.

The Space Torah Project is a short film (30 min) about inspiration, communities, and one man’s journey into space. In 1996, NASA astronaut Dr. Jeff Hoffman brought a small Torah scroll on board the space shuttle Columbia. On Shabbat, while orbiting the Earth, he read from the book of Genesis. This film tells the story of how family, educators, scientific and religious communities can achieve great things, bringing our identities to new realms.

This presentation offers both a sneak peak into the 2021 BJFF and our current exhibit, Jews in Space: Members of the Tribe in Orbit.

Tickets for this event are free, but advance registration is required and only available to JMM Members and past BJFF subscribers. JMM Members are encouraged to invite a friend to join them for the virtual screening of The Space Torah Project. Those friends will also be eligible for the exclusive subscription discount.

*All attendees for this program are eligible for exclusive discounts when subscribing to the 2021 Baltimore Jewish Film Festival or becoming members of the JMM in the week surrounding the event.*

I have a prior commitment on the 16th. Is it possible to watch the movie at another time?

Hi Juliann – unfortunately we aren’t able to offer an additional screening of the film.
