Kyle Kost is an economist with expertise in econometrics, financial analysis, policy evaluation, and macroeconomics. Dr. Kost’s experience includes high-stakes litigation matters involving the life sciences, biotechnology, semiconductor, tech, insurance, pharmaceuticals, tobacco, and automotive industries.

Dr. Kost has applied his expertise on economic issues pertaining to intellectual property dispute, financial matters, contract disputes, and antitrust and competition.

Examples Of Dr. Kost’s work include the following projects:

| Patent damages for semiconductor technology: Analyzed damages for alleged infringement of patented semiconductor technology, including consideration of the technology, product sales, license agreements, the contribution of the patented technology to sales, non-infringing alternatives, apportioned revenues, and a reasonable royalty. Built and ran econometric models as part of the analysis.

| Alleged misappropriation of trade secrets and breach of contract between a pharmaceutical company and former employee: Analyzed the products at issue including stage of development, pricing, indication, and design to inform on economic value of the asserted trade secrets and the economic positions that the parties would have been in if the contract had been fully complied with.

| Damages related to opioid prescribing: Designed statistical samples and calculated resulting statistics for use in damages calculations.

Dr. Kost has authored many articles, one under revision for the Journal of Financial Economics. In this paper, he develops a text-based measure of stock market volatility using newspaper sources to better understand the drivers of volatility. Dr. Kost also served as a lecturer and teaching assistant in the department of economics at the University of Chicago.

Dr. Kost earned his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Chicago. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Mathematics (Magna Cum Laude) from Harvard University.
