USE THE POWER OF PROCUREMENT TO DRIVE CHANGE.

This proposal seeks to reduce the environmental and carbon footprint of international organizations such as the IMF and World Bank by advancing green public procurement practices within these institutions. While green public procurement is a concept that is widely propagated by the IMF and the World Bank Group in the collaboration with client countries, it has been inconsistently implemented in their own internal procurement processes for various reasons. Putting this theoretical concept into practice is linked to a lot of uncertainty about applicable criteria, useable data, and effective impacts on selection decisions. This proposal intends to remove some of this uncertainty, build up institutional knowledge and capacities within the IMF and the World Bank Group and enable the two Bretton Woods institutions to become global leaders in green public procurement in the mid to long term.
