10 Fighting Owls were named to the All-Region 20 Men's Lacrosse Team over the weekend, the highest amount in program history and the most of any team in Region 20 this season.
Five Harford student-athletes landed on the first team, with four slotting into the second team and one being named as an honorable mention. Four Fighting Owls grabbed a spot on the All-Region squad for the second time, while six get the nod for the first time.
First Team
Topping the list was
Taz DeLaney, who was also selected as the Co-Offensive Player of the Year. Delaney stepped up in a pair of big spots for the Fighting Owls, scoring five goals in a regular season victory at Nassau and a half-dozen in the Region 20 Championship Final against CCBC-Essex. The Oakland, California product finished with 23 goals and 14 assists.
Harford's top two scorers,
Cayden Onagi and
Nate Surd, were also named First Team. Onagi led the way with 36 goals and 22 assists while Surd chipped in 29 scores and 20 helpers. Onagi was named NJCAA Player of the Week twice during the regular season, while Surd snagged a spot on the NJCAA National Championship All-Tournament Team.
Rounding out the group were Frosh FaceoffÂ
Zach Sheppard and Sophomore Long Stick Midfielder
Chris Greenstein, who secured First Team honors as specialists. Sheppard topped all FOGO's in Region 20 with 166 wins and 90 ground balls. Greenstein caused 25 turnovers and scooped up 44 ground balls.
Second Team
Midfielder
Trevor Sousa lands himself a spot on the second team after also making the NJCAA All-Tournament squad. Joining him on the Second Team were a trio of defenders: freshman defenseman
Steven Mancha, sophomore defensemanÂ
Everett Campbell, and freshman goalie
Jake Lotz. All three alongside Greenstein helped lead a menacing Harford defense that surrendered the fewest amount of goals per game in Region 20 (8.68).
Ben Ferrell played himself into a spot on the Honorable Mention shortlist as an attacker, pairing 27 goals with 11 assists.
The Fighting Owls recently wrapped their season with a 10-2 record, a third consecutive Region 20 Championship, and an appearance in the NJCAA National Championship Final Four.
