Does anyone have an extra tool box key they would part with?

My Airone is missing the key and without it I can't get the tool boxes unbolted from the rear fender, tried picking the lock but can't get the tumbler to rotate enough to open.

Thanks

Is the latch assembly riveted on ?
Grind the rivets off or drive the hinge pin out ....

Jim,
I do not have a spare, but I can make one for you in about 10 minutes, It won't be pretty, but it will do the trick. Send me your mailing address and I'll put it in the mail. Alternatively, if you can find an old-fashioned skeleton key it can be easily modified to open your tool boxes.

I will try driving the pin out, that has worked on Guzzi V7 Sport and 850T tool boxes in the past, still I would like to get a hold of a key

I had the same problem when I got mine. I got some photos (from one of our colleagues on here) and made a rough key out of soft metal which was good enough to get it open with some gentle turning. See attached dimensions. Took me about 30 mins with cutters and a file

Jim

Attached is a drawing of the key.

The outline is drawn with a pencil so allow a bit for the line being outside the shape.

If you shape it from a piece of 18 SWG sheet 1.31 mm but anything in that order would do say 1.2 mm thick with a small file and a bit at a time you can get it to work as I did.  You may be able to get a good locksmith to cut it for you   The key part must be flat.

Hope this helps

The key is very simple. Guzzino was selling them but seams to be out at this time as is a dealer in Italy that sells on eBay.

I have made them out of old skeleton keys.

Jim,
I have made two keys; one style fits the 1950 Airone and the ca 1955 Falcone, and the other style fits the 1937 500S and the ca 1948 Astorino. I will put them in the mail tomorrow. I have a feeling that the the Falcone and the Airone locks were modified at some time in the past by removing the small slotted element at the bottom of the keyhole . I must say that the modified locks work much better and the key is more robust.

Thanks Alan! I was able to drive the hinge pin out of one of the tool boxes but the other is hanging on for dear life. The paint inside of the tool box lid is in like new condition, excellent for getting a paint colour match scan.
Cheers

I am also in need of a toolbox key for my recently acquired 1955 Falcone Tourismo.  Those boxes just want to be opened to disclose their contents.  Wheels off for tubes, tires and brake work.  Any hints on brake restoration sources?20210912_170723.jpg

Easy to make with a bit of sheet metal and a file. I'll send a pattern later today.
