Thank you for your interest in joining our health disparities-related student organization called Passionate Musicians On Call (PMOC). Our mission focuses on providing musical performances to underserved communities while addressing the social determinants of health. Performing arts are well-known for delivering potential well-being and health benefits to active listeners induced in social stress environments. Our target populations include elderly homes, homeless shelters, youth centers, veteran hospitals, and Alzheimer's facilities. The goal is to have various instrumental groups perform at our partnering organizations with live music. Members also have the option for solo performances to showcase their individual skills. Additionally, we have ongoing community initiatives at the YMCA, tutoring kids in music fundamentals and at Hunter's Crossing, playing one-on-one performances for residents who are bedridden and severely ill. Throughout the year, we plan on having general body meetings to create groups and host social events to boost team morale.
