Addressing Military Family Hunger

In Washington state, as many as 1 in 5 military households are facing food insecurity during the pandemic. That’s why we’ve launched a statewide advocacy campaign to solve hunger problems for veterans and military families.

The WA Military Family Hunger advocacy campaign aims to unite people and organizations all across Washington in support of veterans and our more than 160,000 service members, reservist, and their families that live in and around the state’s 6 active duty military bases.

We are asking you to join this campaign and help us make systemic changes, so these families never go hungry. Become an advocate and help us pass key legislation like the Military Food Security Act of 2023. Help us add to our success, like passing a federal Military Family Basic Needs Allowance in 2021. And there’s more we can do at the state level, like recent wins with the Military Spouse Employment Act and the Purple Star Award.
