Yi Jin, MD
Yi Jin, MD
Director of Neuromodulation, Center for Neurorestoration, USC Keck Medical School
Dr. Yi Jin is a medical school graduate who practiced as a clinical psychiatrist until 1986. In the past 30 years, he has been focused primarily on teaching and research at the University of California, Irvine and USC’s Keck Medical School’s Center for Neurorestoration where he leads the work on neuromodulation. His main academic interests have been to find out the neuro-physical process in normal and abnormal cognition. Using various types of sensory stimulations and neural imaging recording, he has found that the brain cognitive process is discrete and its accuracy depends on the internal rhythmic oscillation. The rhythmicity itself, however, is “tunable” via proper external stimulation. This discovery opens up a new avenue for treatment of mental disorders.

During the past two decades, he has studied a novel physical treatment, repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). Using an individual’s unique, intrinsic brain wave frequency, he has successfully treated many patients with various types of neuropsychiatric disorder, including schizophrenia, major depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, brain injury, substance abuse and autism. Several results have been published in peer-reviewed journals or presented on academic conferences. With his newest advancement in non-invasive neuromodulation, ElectroMagnetic Brain Pulse (EMBP) treatment, Dr Jin introduces work that many describe as “game changing.”
