About this event

This highly interactive session will explore the areas of common and shared interest between the US and UK research libraries in relation to digital scholarship and skills development. It will bring together members of Research Libraries UK's Digital Scholarship Network (DSN) and CLIR's Digital Library Federation's Data and Digital Scholarship Working Group (DDS) to explore the skills needs of the community and the potential for collective support.

Representing significant cross-sections of the research library community involved in the development and delivery of digital scholarship services, initiatives, and research, this event will explore the potential and possibilities of creating a transatlantic skills exchange between members of the RLUK DSN and DLF DDS.

This event will be highly interactive and involve lots of delegate participation. Come energised to share your experiences, specialisms, and skills needs in a dynamic, transatlantic skills exchange.

Agenda:

  • Welcome and introduction
  • Introducing the DDS competency model
  • Getting to know one another (in pairs/small groups)
  • Building a transatlantic skills exchange programme

Preparation before the meeting:

During the meeting, we would like to invite colleagues to discuss their own particular skills needs / skills strengths with one another in pairs or small groups ('speed networking'). You don't need to share any more than you are comfortable with and we encourage all conversations to be open, honest, and respectful.

By signing up to this event you are agreeing to take part in these discussions. They won't be recorded and will take place in small breakout rooms.

Delegates will be allocated to their pairing/small group during the meeting based on their areas of specialism or areas that they would like to develop. We therefore request that you provide basic details of these things by answering a number of short questions on the registration page.

PLEASE NOTE: if you register for this event and then are unable to attend, we kindly request that you email the organisers (details given on registration page).

Attendees will be sent joining details the day before the event, and should check their junk folders if no email is received.
