MISSION STATEMENT
The Dornsife Center brings Drexel’s academic and administrative expertise into the neighborhood, engaging students, faculty and administrators with community residents in creative collaboration to address matters of shared importance.
VISION STATEMENT
Mantua, Powelton Village and Drexel University are strong, vibrant and effective because they are doing shared public work to advance their individual and collective interests. Education and civic life are strengthened when all participate in this public work.
The Dornsife Center convenes programming for a diverse community by weaving together Drexel’s knowledge resources with the expertise of community-based partners. We aim to address the needs and interests of our stakeholders in a way that strengthens, empowers, and educates while maintaining a strong commitment to economic and social justice. It is home to a number of services and programs that provide needed resources to the community. These include Drexel-led programming such as the Beachell Family Learning Center's open computer lab and career workshops, Andy and Gwen Stern Community Lawyering Clinic’s pro-bono legal assistance, and the Community Wellness HUB’s health and wellness services and programming. The Dornsife Center also host several youth, arts, and educational activities led by both university and community partners such as music lessons, dance classes, youth martial arts, qigong classes, and nutrition and cooking workshops.
We offer programming in the following general areas:
- Adult Education and Workforce Access
