Attendance of Prenatal and Postpartum Educational Classes and its Effect on Breastfeeding and Birth OutcomesNew Familia Health Support Services is a Los Angeles-based community organization dedicated to providing maternity care (childbirth education classes, diabetes prevention, breastfeeding support, and mental health services to pregnant and postpartum women) in traditionally underserved communities. In this study, we analyze the impact of attendance at pregnancy and birth support classes on women’s delivery and breastfeeding outcomes and experiences. We have developed a survey, have IRB approval, and currently have collected data on 42 women. We are looking for 1-2 students who would like to continue to analyze existing birth outcome data and continue to enroll and collect data on women in the study. Students may also be involved in validating the survey instrument at a later date as this is a pilot project. An interest in women’s reproductive healthcare and Spanish fluency are not required but are recommended student attributes. If interested and would like to learn more, please contact Annie Odelson at odelson@usc.edu or Dr. Jo Marie Reilly at JoMarie.Reilly@med.usc.edu.Annie Odelson (odelson@usc.edu)Dr. Jo Marie Reilly (JoMarie.Reilly@med.usc.edu)1/4/22
