The 2023 AR Ammons Poetry Contest winners will be honored at the AR Ammons Poetry Contest Awards Ceremony at Bowers Auditorium at Whiteville High School on Saturday, March 25 at 5:00 pm.
Those winning first, second or third place will have the opportunity to read their poem aloud for the audience. Please plan to arrive at 4:00 pm and check in at the Bowers Auditorium stage so you can practice your poem before the ceremony.
Those winning Honorable Mention need to check in by 4:45 pm at the Bowers Auditorium stage. (They may arrive earlier if they wish to practice as well. They will not read on stage at Bowers but they will have a chance to read with the High School Poet Laureates at 6PM in the Whiteville High School Gym.)
Your poem - along with the other winner poems - has been published in the 2023 AR Ammons Poetry Contest Winners book, which will be available for purchase at the ceremony. All winners will receive a certificate and a copy of the published book, and the committee will present monetary prizes to the winners of first, second, and third prize in each division. Your parents, teachers, friends, and family are welcome to attend in the audience as you are recognized for your achievement. We will also take pictures for the News Reporter and our website, so dress to impress!
