Mentors: Mentors are resourceful student guides that are welcoming to those of different cultures and are enthusiastic about assisting mentees with their transition into UF culture. We expect mentors to provide guidance and support to mentees. This support may include, but is not limited to assistance in academics, clubs, and social activities. To achieve a high level of engagement and allow for the formation of long-lasting bonds between mentors and mentees, mentors are expected to contribute about two hours per week to IMA related activities.

Mentees: As a mentee, you will have the opportunity to connect with a mentor, a current student at the University of Florida. Mentees receive guidance, support, and friendship in the form of a mentorship pairing. Throughout the year, IMA will host various events where mentees will have the opportunity to strengthen their relationship with their assigned mentor. There is an estimated time commitment of two hours per week for IMA mentees.

*INCLUSIVITY STATEMENT: Any undergraduate student at the University of Florida, regardless of academic standing (i.e. Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior, Degree Seeking, Non-Degree Seeking) can be either a mentor or mentee. The mentorship experience for mentors and mentees is catered to those with an international background and/or interest (i.e. being on an F-1/J-1/student visa, spending many years abroad, moving to the U.S. for the first time, partaking in an exchange program, speaking multiple languages, etc.) but being an international or exchange student is NOT required to apply. The International Mentorship Association (IMA) welcomes students from all diverse backgrounds in alignment with its mission statement of fulfilling multicultural exchange and holistic leadership development and abides by all University of Florida Regulations pertaining to being a registered student organization.
