Students are required to submit this forms at least three weeks in advance of the absence in question, though more advance notice is welcome.
Students maybe be excused from a rehearsal in certain cases, but not from a concert. Situations that merit consideration for an excused absence from a rehearsal include:
· important auditions
· high-level or high-profile performance opportunities
· major family events (weddings, funerals, etc.)
· religious events
Situations that are not eligible for an excused absence include, but are not limited to, routine musical engagements (wedding gigs, background music, DePaul athletic bands), part-time jobs, vacations, etc.
Ensemble directors will follow up directly to let you know if the request has been approved.
In the event of illness or last-minute emergency, please email the director directly before your rehearsal or performance.
Extended absence/accommodation requests must be submitted to related studio faculty, Director of Orchestral Studies (Jill Williamson), ensemble director, and College Office.
