To-Do Items & Reminders

Residential Life Housing & Winter Break

All students currently living in Residential Life housing have to-do list items before leaving for Winter Break. Be sure to review the Department Debrief from Residential Life later in this newsletter and to review any communications sent directly from Residential Life, your Residential College/Community Director (RCD), and your Resident Advisor (RA).


WUSA Hours

The last WUSA Hours for the fall semester take place during the last week of classes (Monday, December 5 – Friday, December 9). WUSAs will be leading a gingerbread house decorating activity and talking about how to prepare for finals and de-stress during reading week and final exams. Stop by to say hi!

What's Happening on Campus This Month

Recess at the Rec

Stop by Sumers Rec Center on Monday, December 12 from 2:00 PM 5:00 PM for a study break hosted by Dr. Anna Gonzalez ("Dr. G"), Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. There will be free treats, games, skating, and a polar plunge.


Moonlight Breakfast

Save the date! Moonlight Breakfast is back on Wednesday, December 14 from 9:00 PM – 11:00 PM in both the Bear’s Den and the Village. This event is free to all WashU undergraduate students with a meal plan. Please bring your student ID to enter.


Reading Week: Dining Hall Hours

Dining Hall hours will be altered during reading week. Check out the Dining Services website for the most up-to-date information.

First Year In the Lou

Garden Glow at the Missouri Botanical Gardens 

Join your peers in celebrating the upcoming winter season with more than one million dazzling lights and fun new experiences at the Missouri Botanical Gardens! Student Transitions & Family Programs will be taking first-year students to Garden Glow on Saturday, December 3. Buses will leave from the Alumni House Parking Lot at 7:30 PM and will return to campus no later than 10:30 PM. Sign up to reserve your spot! 

Department Debrief: Residential Life

Be sure to follow the below instructions from ResLife based on your winter break plans. Additional details can be found on the Academic Break Housing Information webpage. All forms referenced below are available via the WashU Housing Portal on WebSTAC.

 

Staying for the entire winter break:

You must complete the Winter Housing/Late Stay Form to maintain access to residential facilities. You will check the box to stay for the entire break once you are inside the form.

 

Leaving for the entire winter break but returning in the Spring semester:

Complete the Fall Checkout Form to check out of your fall space only. You may leave your belongings in your room.

 

Staying for a portion and leaving for the remainder of winter break but returning in the Spring semester:

Complete the Winter Housing/Late Stay Form, the Fall Checkout Form, and the Winter Checklist before leaving campus. You will select a specific departure date once you are inside the form.

 

Leaving the university permanently or not returning to ResLife Housing in the Spring semester:

Complete the Fall Checkout Form. Detailed instructions for moving out can be found on the Residential Life website. You will need to remove your belongings from your room.
