Apple released the new macOS 14 Sonoma on September 26, 2023.

According to our tests with the public beta version Archicad is compatible with some known issues detailed below. There are no known issues regarding BIMx and existing BIMcloud setups.


Known issues

Archicad

Editing the Work Environment profile freezes the menu bar - fixed

Affected version(s): Archicad 26 | ID: DEF-14476

Issue

The menu bar of Archicad freezes or is missing after applying changes to the Work Environment profile.

Workaround

An Archicad restart resolves the issue until the next time changes are applied to the Work Environment profile.

Solution

This issue is fixed in an Archicad 26 and Solo update (60xx build).

On screen visibility issues with the Tracker and feedback - fixed

Affected version(s): Archicad 26 | ID: DEF-14902

Issue

While editing elements, the Tracker does not appear correctly, and feedback is not visible on screen.

Workaround

Moving the cursor over the pet palette solves the issue.

Solution

This issue is fixed in an Archicad 26 and Solo update (60xx build).

Archicad active app menu bar's fields are not available - fixed

Affected version(s): Cloud-license based Archicad 27 | ID: DEF-15591

Issue

After the BIMcloud login dialog appears, the menu bar’s commands are greyed out and unavailable. This issue does not happen with Archicad with key-based licenses.

Workaround

An Archicad restart solves the issue temporarily until the BIMcloud login dialog is brought up again.

Solution

This issue is fixed in an Archicad 27 and Solo update (50xx build).

Chevron position (^ >) is not centered - fixed

Affected version(s): all Archicad versions | ID: DEF-15383

Issue

The Chevron position (^ >) is not centered in several of the Menu bar’s dialogs.

Workaround

No workaround is available.

Solution

This issue is fixed in an Archicad 27 and Solo update (50xx build).

Editing Autotext Label while Caps Lock is active crashes Archicad - fixed

Affected version(s): all Archicad version(s) | ID: DEF-15169

Issue

Archicad crashes while editing the Autotext Label with Caps Lock turned on.

Workaround

Turn off Caps Lock while editing.

Solution

This issue will be fixed in an Archicad 26 and Solo update (70xx build) and is fixed in Archicad 27 and Solo update (50xx build).

BIMcloud

There are no known issues in BIMcloud.

BIMx

There are no known issues in BIMx Desktop from version 2023.5188.

Upgrade checklist
  • Study macOS Sonoma articles for any known issues and difficulties
  • Back up all of your data, including Archicad / BIMcloud specific data before upgrading the operating system 
  • Upload all Software keys to the License Pool
  • Return all borrowed licenses before upgrading the OS
  • Allow yourself enough time for the upgrade, do not upgrade the OS close to a deadline
  • Install/update macOS Sonoma
  • Install Archicad
  • Install all updates for the new operating system
  • Install all updates for Graphisoft products
  • Install the macOS Sonoma compatible protection key driver
  • Test Archicad and BIMcloud

Archicad compatibility by different versions

Archicad 27 & Archicad 26
  • Archicad 27 FULL and SOLO are compatible. The issues above will be addressed in upcoming updates.
  • Archicad 26 FULL and SOLO are compatible. The issues above will be addressed in upcoming updates.
Archicad 25 & Archicad 24
  • Archicad 25 FULL and SOLO will start but not receive compatibility updates.
  • Archicad 24 FULL and SOLO will start but not receive compatibility updates.
Archicad 23 & earlier 
  • Archicad 23 FULL & earlier will not start.
  • Archicad 23 SOLO & earlier will not start.
Archicad STAR(T) Edition
  • Archicad SE 2024: is fully supported.
  • Archicad SE 2023 & Earlier: will not receive compatibility updates.
