Highlander's Magic (Highlander Heat Book 2) Kindle Edition
Wearing the four-hundred-year-old amulet she inherited, Marie MacLean enters a faerie circle near the ruins of Dunyvaig Castle. A veil rises. A warrior from the past makes a wish to win the war against the Chief of MacLean, and as the veil thins, she falls through into his time.
Highland warrior Archie MacDonald has been gifted a faerie who insists she’s from the future and the progeny of both his and his enemy’s clan. The last thing he expects is for her to stir him on a level he’s never experienced before. All he needs is her aid in the war, no matter where she believes she’s from.
Determined to keep history on course, Marie enters the crux of the battle. She must ensure the MacLean chief who has yet to father her paternal line isn’t killed, and all without perishing herself. Can Archie see past his need for revenge before he kills his enemy? If he wishes to save the woman who’s crossed centuries to be by his side, he must.

While on a trip to the isle of the Islay Scotland their family legacy and home two sisters including the young beautiful spitfire heroine Marie are looking for adventure make a wish. The strong handsome bent on revenge Scottish highlander hero Archie also makes a wish as well wanting the safe return of his chief, aide and winning a war against his hated enemy the MacLean. Little did they both know Marie is sent back to Archie’s time of 1590 to make sure that Archie must do something in order to protect MacLean his enemy but protect Marie too. I just really liked the story of a magical amulet, wonderful characters, a bit of magic in wishing, the bond of identical twins, and a doomed family legacy. At times though I did get annoyed at Marie who denied constantly that she was fae even though magic of some form brought her to Archie’s time plus the fact that she was so adamant of wanting to be her sister, wanting to do everything with her sister but as soon as she accepted that she must help Archie she kept insisting that he take her everywhere with him I just kind of attributed it to her being so young perhaps? I think Archie got on my nerves a little bit too. I didn’t like how his whole main goal was just trying to kill his enemy even though Marie kept telling him that it was a bad idea he was so hell-bent on it and didn’t look at the whole big picture or what Marie was trying to tell him. There was just a lot of miscommunication or either that both of the characters were so stubborn that they did a lot of talking to unrelenting sides of each other or they just didn’t want to listen to each other which kind of made me think that they just couldn’t wait to get into each other’s pants more so than actual love.
I think what made this time travel romance enjoyable to me was the supposed mix of fae and reality but more based in reality than anything with some actual true history thrown in. The history didn’t drag down the story and made for a nice read even though the ending happened quite quickly it seemed. I did like the minor characters of Katherine, John and Mary almost more than Archie and Marie. I did wish there was more of a back story of them even though Ms. Wadsworth did claim in her author’s note about the real Angus MacDonald, Lachlan MacLean’s history and her additions to the story. I do hope that maybe in the next book there will be more about them. Even with all of these little issues I had with the book I still enjoyed the story, rated it four stars and have purchased the first book in the series maybe with all the things I didn’t like it will make much better sense because it will all be explained in the first book.
