Host an NYC Civic Corps Member

NYC Civic Corps Program Overview for Host Sites

NYC Civic Corps, an AmeriCorps program launched in 2009 by NYC Service, recruits and places AmeriCorps members to serve full time at select nonprofit host sites. NYC Civic Corps members build, develop, and grow stronger volunteer programs in order to better serve or reach more New Yorkers. The NYC Civic Corps program objectives are to:

  1. Build organizational capacity for civic and community engagement through addressing pressing volunteer-specific needs and opportunities as identified by nonprofit partners.
  2. Provide Civic Corps members with workforce skills and pathways to quality careers with advancement opportunities.
  3. Create opportunities for civic leadership development.

NYC Civic Corps Mission: NYC Civic Corps builds the volunteer program capacity at nonprofit partners in all 5 boroughs to more effectively and efficiently address critical needs in the areas of Disaster Services, Economic Opportunity, Environmental Stewardship, Education/Youth Development and Healthy Futures (public health and hunger).

NYC Civic Corps Vision: Nonprofit host sites have more robust volunteer recruitment, training and management, allowing them to better serve their community.

First time host sites are organizations that have never served as a host site in NYC Civic Corps or have not served as a host site in the last 2 program years (i.e. If you were a host site in 2021-2022 but not since then, you would be considered “new” for 2024-2025.). Returning host sites are organizations that served as a host site in the 2023-2024 program year with one or more members, or organizations that were accepted to serve in the 2023-2024 program year but did not receive a member.

Eligible organizations are welcome to apply as a partner to host AmeriCorps members. See below to learn about eligibility requirements. To learn more about NYC Civic Corps before applying, please contact Joann Villacres at servicerecruitment@cityhall.nyc.gov to schedule an informational call.
