Christine N. Witzel Award Fund Application

The Christine N. Witzel Award Fund provides a scholarship to an academically promising undergraduate or graduate student enrolled full time in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and undertaking a research project related to women's health. Research topics of particular interest include, but are not limited to, health issues specific to women and gender differences in the experience of health issues.

Candidates must acquire a letter of recommendation from an InCHIP Network Member and/or a CLAS faculty member. The faculty member writing the letter of recommendation must have research or teaching interests in women's health issues. The application period for the 2024-2025 academic year is now open. The deadline to apply is Friday, April 5.


Application Process

Students must submit an application (below) to be considered for this scholarship. Applicants will be asked to provide:

  • a copy of their unofficial transcript;
  • a letter of recommendation from an InCHIP Network Member and/or a CLAS faculty member with a research or teaching interest in women's health issues; and
  • a 1-2 page description of a research project (ongoing or planned for the future) in the area of women’s health and an accompanying budget.

The scholarship committee will make its final selections no later than May 15, 2024. Recipients will be notified by email. Non-recipients will not be contacted.

All scholarships will be administered by the Office of Student Financial Aid Services. If you are a need-based financial aid recipient (loans, grants, work-study employment), your financial aid package may be revised as a result of this award. If no adjustment is necessary and your fee bill is paid in full, you may be entitled to a refund.
