The CAHNR's Dean's Office is committed to providing opportunities for faculty, staff, and graduate students to expand their professional knowledge and skills. Throughout the year, the Dean's Office will organize workshops and trainings that help the CAHNR community grow their understanding and abilities of both hard and soft skills, such as communications, HR/payroll, and creativity.

Improving Your Phone Photography and Videography Skills - Training recording

CAHNR Communications hosts a tutorial on how to capture better pictures and video recordings with your phone and ways to easily share them. Topics discussed will include composition and framing, how to adjust phone settings (Android and iPhone), ways to easily share content, and other useful tips and elements to consider when taking photos and recording videos.

Working with the Media

Working with the media can be a great way to highlight the CAHNR expertise with a broad audience. Unfortunately media training isn’t typically part of academic training. The CAHNR Office of Communications will host a one-hour workshop to prepare faculty, Extension educators, graduate students, and staff for successful interviews and offer tips on becoming a go-to resource for journalists.

Internal Communications Resources - Training recording

CAHNR Communications hosts a tutorial on various internal communications resources you can use to share news and events with the UConn community. The tutorial will include how to submit news and announcements to the College and University Digests, how to post events to the new UConn Events Calendar, and an introduction to the University's photo database, the UConn Media Share, to find images.

Photography Resources - Training recording

CAHNR Communications hosts a tutorial on various photography resources to find and use images to update websites, include in publications, and to accompany news and events shared with the UConn community. This tutorial gives an introduction to the University Media Share photo database, the College’s photo processes, tips for taking better photos, and how to keep photos organized and easy to share with others through OneDrive.

Updating your Website with Aurora - Training recording

CAHNR Communications hosts a tutorial, and answer any questions you have about updating and expanding your websites using the Aurora WordPress platform. We'll go over basic how-to's for site updates, as well as specifics for our college's template. Then any questions you have about Aurora or your site specifically will be addressed.
