Navigating Kosciuszko Circle

The rotary near the JFK/UMass station is notorious for its rush hour congestion and aggressive scofflaw drivers who push through the circle, often at the expense of commuters who are trying to abide by Massachusetts RMV rules.

Day Boulevard
Cars entering the rotary don't always yield to cars in the circle.
Inside/outside lanes
Drivers going more than two exits are supposed to enter the inside lane, and drivers going one or two exits are supposed to enter on the outside lane. Very often, the opposite happens in both cases.
Third-lane traffic jam at Columbia Road exit
Cars in two rotary lanes encounter backed up traffic from Old Colony, and form an impromptu extra lane of cars whose drivers want to get into the left lane of Columbia Road. Backup of I-93 onramps causes Columbia Road traffic to block the rotary.
Columbia Road entrance to rotary
Cars that make it through Columbia Road congestion encounter drivers coming off I-93, who might be more aggressive or assertive than some of the drivers in the rotary, who have the right of way.
Crosswalks
Pedestrians have the right of way in crosswalks, which are marked by yellow signs and white paint. Drivers rarely yield, and beep at those who do. Inattentive drivers can rear-end the drivers who do yield.
