It hurts to look at you.
One, two, three, four, five . . . the lyrics to the hell inside your OCD head.
Not alive, not dead. In chains.
You’re broken, Amy. I did this. Can’t undo that.
Six years ago, I played a cruel joke on you in front of the whole school. The girl who made a happiness machine to put her happy inside of me. And I just ripped your heart out.
Now, I’m back to fix what I broke. I’m a psychologist, Amy. I can give you back the happiness I stole . . .

It’s all a lie. I’m not a doctor.
So what. She doesn’t get a choice.
So what if I buy the Victorian estate she lives in, blackmail her into fake therapy sessions.
So what if I get her addicted to my body like a painkiller, make her wish me dead.
I’m not the hero. I’m the monster. The orphan boy gone bad. Cursed, everything broken.
So what, when I discover a dark secret that makes her every inch off-limits, I don’t keep my hands off her.
Her bones are made from emeralds, she’s that precious.
I won’t stop chasing her until she’s mine.

But Amy is a pretty little liar, too. Her lie is the deadliest of them all.
Only one of us is telling the truth.
So bloody what. Nobody’s gonna believe her over me.

It’s her word . . .
. . . against MINE.

You’re in a bad place, Amy, where the monsters go. But it’s only in the bad places . . . I can get to you.

So this book definitely has triggers and to be honest I was not comfortable whilst reading certain bits. I did enjoy reading this book and the main H is a true jerk. I’m not really sure how I feel about the heroine because even though she had issues (more understandable why later on) I just found her trying to “help” the H a tad annoying when she had issues that she wasn’t dealing with herself. So as I said even though the subject matter was uncomfortable I think the conclusion at least had satisfactory ending.
On a side note I personally didn’t like the fact that even though they had feelings for each other they were with other people during separation. The romantic in me always feels a bit betrayed when to characters have already formed a bond end up having had sex with other people. The author did go to great lengths to avoid mentioning to much about their previous sexual life but still I will admit to feeling a bit let down by that aspect. For that reason I would normally give 3* but I feel because of the writing I can’t give less then 4 as it was excellent. So for the characters I give this 3 but for the plot and writing this deserves a 4*.

This book is not for me. I struggled with the writing style and character development. I read the first chapter 4 times and I still couldn't move beyond the 6th chapter. I am told by a few that I missed the dark chapters.

I will say this only get this book on KU. Do not pay full price. I rarely write a review this way. I have respect for the author as a person. I commend her for putting her work out there. However, I feel this book needs a good content editor and copy edit.

This book is the debut from Kingsley Ash. I loved the blurb on the cover and it got me excited to see where this story would go.

The 2 MCs meet at a young age, Shepherd is the bad boy from the children’s home having been abandoned as a baby and Amy is the light to his darkness. He breaks her heart, he believes to save her from him and then disappears from her life.

Shepherd never seems to shake off his belief that he is a monster yet he comes back into Amy’s life when he realises something has broken her.

Amy has developed OCD due to an event in her past which she can’t tell anyone about. She lives in a care facility and is distraught when she learns Shepherd is the new owner and believes him to be her new psychologist. She tries to push him away but never succeeds and he slowly manages to break down her walls.

The 2 of them battle through their past trauma and confront the monsters in their path which helps them heal.

My thoughts: The last 25% of the book was definitely better than the first part of the book. The first part was quite drawn out and repetitive. The chapter headings of you and me were quite confusing and I had to think about which character I was reading about. The plot was a little choppy and didn’t flow as smoothly as I would have liked however this did not stop me continuing to read the book. The last 25% was a lot faster paced and actually in my opinion could have been expanded on.

We were introduced to some characters and then it was like they were forgotten about. Diana seemed like she was going to be important yet she featured very little in the story and her passing was glossed over at the end. I was also left at the end wondering what happened to the rest of the girls in the story who were Amy’s friends.

For a debut, I thought this was good. There were some issues with formatting and plot which could have been resolved but I think the premise of the story was good.

Wanting an angsty and dark read? It's been a while since I had read a dark book. As I had picked up this book, I didn't expect it to be as dark as it was. The book starts with us meeting Amy and Shepard when they were younger. Amy loved Shepard and saw the good in him, Shepard, on the other hand, was always told he was dark and evil. As they got to their teen years, Shepard did the worst thing possible to push Amy away. The incident was the first thing that broke her heart as she ended up being humiliated. Six years later and Amy and Shepard are now in their 20's. Amy is living in an estate that is like rehab for addiction and mental health issues as she suffers from severe OCD and nightmares/ panic attacks. Life has been moving at a quiet pace for Amy and she is happy in her bubble, that is until Shepard ends up back in town. He is the new owner of the Estate that Amy has been living in. He is her worst nightmare yet he could be the one to save her from herself. For Shephard, Amy is the light he has pushed away as he doesn't want to infect her with his darkness. As the book goes along, Shep is back to find out the truth about his mother Violet Adams and in turn, try and find out who is father is whereas Amy is slowly opening up to Shep and the readers about the dark secrets that she holds in her Pandora's box. The book near the end got very exciting and dark at the same time where all the secrets came rolling out and wow - took a scary turn that readers don't expect. Liarholic was one of those reads that once you finish, you have to take a breather as it is an intense rollercoaster of dark emotions. Liarholic is one of the darkest reads I have read for 2020 so far.

Amy likes things a certain way, she checks and re-checks things solely for the purpose of feeling safe, it's what makes her world feel normal. But she wasn't always this way, something changed in her life a long time ago, and it forced her into this sheltered world, one that she struggles day in and day out to control.

Her past holds a lot of painful memories, and at the center of them is a man she hopes she never sees again, Shepard was once her friend, now he is the enemy, the monster who broke her.

But now he is back, determined to fix what he broke.

Between the pages of this dark and twisted tale readers will meet a man dead set on fixing the woman he loves, a woman who wants nothing to do with him. Their relationship wasn't always this way, they were once the bright spots in each other's dark worlds, then he broke them beyond repair. Shepard harbors a lot of guilt for how he treated Amy, but he also carries a lot of ugliness inside of him that sometimes makes him act like an uncaring soulless jerk. His obsession with fixing Amy takes on a whole new meaning when he buys the building she lives in, and takes over as her psychologist. The lengths he goes to for the woman who owns his heart can be seen as admirable on some levels, also a bit creepy on some levels too... this one really takes an open mind to digest. It will push boundaries, make you a bit angry at times, but once it all unfolds you can began to gain an understanding for why Shepard is the way he is, and it may help to see him in a different light. This one isn't for the faint-hearted, it's words will push you to your breaking point at times, torture your heart, and leave you a little unsettled. But I promise there is some good to be found in there too, you just have to be patient enough to find it. As much as this one wrecked me, it also brought me a bit of happiness too, it's words took me on one heck of a roller-coaster ride! Highly recommend!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

So I really tried to get into this....to be honest I wanted to give up after the first chapter but I ploughed on and in the end I gave up at chapter 6, I wanted to like this so much but the style of writing just wasn't for me, I was struggling to understand the characters, the history they shared etc however the language and sentence structure just didn't make it easy for me to read or understand! The main heroine was unremarkable and the hero just didnt the pack the punch I wanted. I'm really sorry, I hate leaving negative reviews. This really wasn't for me.

What in the world was this book?!?! Just wow! I love dark romances and even I had to take a breather after this one because it is INTENSE!

Shephard is the definition of the alphahole that you want to hate SO FREAKING bad, but there is still something about him that you can't give up on. The way that he wants to help Amy, whom he seriously did dirty years back, is an interesting story line. This book was dark and intense and crazy suspenseful. All in all, I enjoyed reading it, but if you are not a fan of dark romances, you will probably not enjoy this, so definitely know that. I give this 4 outta 5 stars and liked the craziness of it! Great job to the author!

PS: Thank you to Kingsley Ash and Give Me Books PR for allowing me an advanced copy of the book to read and review honestly.

This is Amy and Shepard’s story. These two have a painful past which has left them both broken souls. Now Shep is back and determined to get back the girl he loves. This is a well written dark and intense story which is an emotional roller coaster, as well as having heartbreak, suspense, mystery, angst, secrets, and unexpected twists. I was totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner. I highly recommend for all lovers of a dark and twisted tale; you will not be disappointed.

Amy and Shepard were friends and everything to each other at one time. Shepard did something horrible to Amy to destroy everything. Now years later, Shepard is back to torment Amy even more because he feels like he can fix her problems. This is a dark romance not for the faint hearted with creepy stalkerish vibes. A great dark romance.

Amy and Shepard were once friends when they were kids and then Shepard chose to humiliate her when they were teenagers and Amy broke. Now she lives on an estate for addiction and mental health issues. Shepard comes back in town wanting to help Amy. Shepard isn’t who he claims to be but can he help Amy in the end or will he just hurt her more? Fast-paced dark read with loads of drama and steam. I loved this intense dark read.

Liarholic by Kingsley Ash is the story of Amy and Shepard.
Amy and Shepard when they were younger were friends. But that changed when they were in their teens when Shepard choose to humiliate her that ended up being what made her finally just break. Now in their present day, Amy lives on an Estate for addition and mental health issues. With her OCD at a all time high she finds content at the estate as much as she can. Shepard is a dark person who comes back to town to find answers about his parents and to somewhat make up for what he did to the only person that brought light into his dark world...Amy. So he buys the estate that she is at and goes forward to be in her life even if he isn't totally open with her. This is a very dark read so it isn't for the faint of heart or those with trigger issues. I enjoyed this book and hope to read more from this author.

Liarholic by Kingsley Ash is a roller-coaster, heart-pounding ride of a book. The story focuses on Amy and Shepard, like two pieces of a puzzle, they knew they wanted each other from an early age, but Shepard betrays Amy in the most brutal way as a teen and it seems that from that point onward, both of their lives spiral out of control with secrets, obsessions and lies.

Amy is at Swan Lake, a private clinic for those with issues. With overpowering OCD, Amy almost lives in a state of rigid routine, until one day Shepard turns up as the ‘owner’ of the building, looking for his own answers about his life, reigniting his obsession for Amy and trying to put her broken pieces together, or at least make them fit with his own.

The book really delves into the history that these two characters have together, how secrets can cause a lot of damage and how the intensity of a relationship can save two significantly broken people.

When reading this book, there were times where you can’t believe what comes out of Shepard’s mouth, it’s raw, toxic, twisted but ultimately real. He will literally do anything to have Amy, to save her, to love her and in a way that makes him a redeemable character. He may be a monster, but he is certainly her monster! His obsessiveness, sensuality and intensity pull you into the story and keeps you turning the page. You know that Amy is his other half and when you find out why she is the way she is, the secrets she has had to keep and the lies she has even had to tell herself to keep sane, it's heart-breaking.

This was a great book to read, not only do you become invested in the characters, but also invested in the story. You want to get to the bottom of the secrets; you want to know the reasons why things have happened, you want to know about other characters’ stories, no matter how tragic and uncomfortable reading it may make you. And ultimately, you want to know more about Shepard and Amy! A wonderful, intriguing, twist and turn read!

ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review 😊

"Saving you was the best thing I ever did, Amy, and then I can't stop hurting you.. How do you like that? You're the best thing I ever did, and the worst thing I ever did."

5 Obsessive Stars!!! Such a tragically, deeply demented story with so much heart!

Amy has a serious OCD issue, which stems back to her younger years. She doesn't feel safe unless she's done her "rituals." She's somewhat happy in her peaceful home and trying hard to get on with life. But that all changes when her tormentor, the reason for her darkness shows back up in her life. Shepard is the reason why she has the issues she has. He ripped her heart out of her chest and is now back years later to claim her back at any price. He buys her apartment building and blackmails her into taking fake therapy.

These two have a deeply disturbing relationship, and while you should be screaming "RUN!" you somehow want these two to make it work. Everything about this story shouldn't work, but that's what makes it compelling. You want these two broken people to work together and let's face it real life isn't roses and sunshine and these two are perfect examples of that! I love a book that is real, and that's what Liarholic is... real, dark, obsessive and twisted. And I loved every page of it!!!

So its been awhile since I've read a dark romance which means it took me awhile to get into the mind frame of the story. Like way to long that I almost quit the book but I didn't. I kept reading and I'm glad I did. This story shows you how ugly the world is and what people will do to get ahead. It shows that despite how you came into the world, you can change your future and overcome the ugly past. You can find love and be happy. I loved the little moments we got when Shepherd and Amy were young and in the home. It was sweet until he hurt her and destroyed her life. My favorite quote that made me laugh but explains exactly what Shepherd was like throughout this book," You make Hitler look like a fluffy bunny and I'm not scared of you anymore." I wouldn't say Shepherd was evil, he just had a game he liked to play with Amy. He has a purpose behind it and it worked. I will say you will have to definitely pay attention to who's talking in each chapter cause this isn't your normal book. It captivates you. I will say the last half of this book is better then the beginning and that may be cause all the secrets come out and Shepherd becomes human again. My head was spinning when all the secrets came out. It was so crazy and disturbing with all of it.

This kinda ties what Shepherd and Amy are and why they have such a strong connection together. There's string that ties them together. It doesn't matter that there's times she doesn't want to see him, she will still go and see him despite him being a jerk to her.

"Amy, wake up and see what I am. Darkness to fight your darkness. Evil to fight your evil. I'm all darkness, all evil, and I did what I did all the years ago to protect you." He was always there to protect her despite destroying her life.

Liarholic by Kingsley Ash is a dark and twisted angsty romance. Shepherd and Amy have known each other since they were little. They're best friends, and Amy is in love with Shepherd. Shepherd has a darkness to him and is twisted. In a move to protect Amy, he sets her up for humiliation and leaves town when they are 14-15 years old. 6 years later, Amy is in a mental illness/psychic ward, and suffers from severe OCD, panic attacks, and anxiety. Shepherd has returned to town and buys the home she's in, becoming the new owner. He pretends that he's a psychiatrist to get to Amy, having a goal of fixing what he broke. As they begin a new relationship, Shepherd tries to get Amy to open up because she's hiding many secrets. Shepherd also tries to learn more about his past, and his unknown father, having just discovered who his mother is. This book is extremely twisted and dark, and the relationship Shepherd and Amy have is a bit f*cked up at times. Shepherd is extremely controlling and arrogant at times. He's a billionaire now, and has good looks, but he only wants Amy. Amy has to deal with Shepherd, the boy she loves who betrayed her, coming back into her life, while also keeping her secrets hidden. I really liked this book and felt that we got a good sense of Amy and her OCD and Shepherd and his anger issues. They had an unconventional and twisted love for each other. There was a lot of suspense and hidden secrets that weren't revealed until the end of the novel, which kept me at the edge of my seat. I really liked the ending, and what happened to everyone. Max was a cute character. There were some grammatical errors throughout, but the writing was good overall.

Liarholic was a story that I never saw coming because for whatever reason, I didn't expect it to be dark. I know that I sound crazy, but I didn't read through all of the description well enough I guess. Anyway, it was a dark & gritty story after my own dark heart, and I seriously enjoyed it. From what I understand, it's Kingsley Ash's debut book, making me very excited to see how she develops in the future. I'm not going to get into any details, as that would ruin the experience, but I can say this...Shepherd seriously enraged me right & left, as he truly believed he was a monster, and acted on it big time. There are secrets that don't make any friends, but they do make for some seriously turned up twists that kept me dropping f-bombs cover to cover, while I stayed glued to the edge of my seat. Amy is also broken all because of Shepherd as they have a past, but now he's back, so will he destroy her for good?! You'll have to hit those one click buttons to find out! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

**3.5 stars

This is the first book that I've read by this author, and it's definitely a dark romance with so many twists and turns that even I couldn't have predicted!

Our heroine Amy has a strong case of OCD, as well as many painful secrets that's killing her to keep. She really is a tortured soul.

Shephard is definitely an anti-hero; he's selfish, cruel, dark and twisty, and yet when he does open up you can tell that there's so much good in him.. but when you've been told all your life (especially starting at such a young age) that you're a terrible person, sooner than later you're going to start believing it.

It's definitely a slow burn, and then towards the later part of the book of was full of intense, jaw dropping moments!

There were some parts that made me uncomfortable, but if you're a fan of dark romances this is definitely for you!

**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions!**

Love the cover it’s so passionate. Ok here is my review:

What a beautiful story, even though it has a devil for a hero and the heroine has a broken mind you cannot help fall in love with both of them and their story.

You get to explore their most intimate thinking, you dwell in their minds and in their feelings. He lives in darkness because of the way he was raised and cannot stop lying to her or trying to make her his even if he goes on the wrong way about it. She is broken all the ways a person can be because of her family’s past and she cannot escape her mind until him. Two broken people find the light at the end.

Wonderful story telling by Kingsley Ash, it’s almost poetic like.

This is a hard book to read especially if you have certain triggers. It’s about Shepherd and Amy. They became attached to each other at a very young age. Shepherd felt unworthy of her and ended up breaking her to put a barrier between them. Unknown to her at fifteen he ends up in jail. She thinks he just ran off. She has drama happen in her life at home that ends her up in a institution. She has lots of triggers she has to do to feel safe. Shepherd makes something of himself after getting out snd comes back to try to put Amy Back together. It’d ends with them facing their demons and moving on to having a life together. It’s a struggle reading it all to get to the happy place but it’s not a cookie cutter story

Why? 1 star for the cover. And the OCD description ( although I wonder if it’s accurate).

Both pov felt the same to me. The thing the ‘hero’ did at the start to make the ‘heroine’ hate him… it wasn’t nice. But well, high school and everything. Later a mental institution of 4 women and a child? All the staff is laid off? One therapist buys the whole lot? Nobody checks in? It’s all so unbelievable. I don’t care about these people. I wish them all the best. I’m moving on and won’t check the locks. I have to get out of here.

This book is also known as DR. BAD. Same book, more accurate description.

Dear author, kudos to you for writing a book. It has potential, IMO it needs some more work. All the best to you.

I'm going to be honest here and say That I'm really not sure about my feelings as far as this book goes. This was a new to me author and when I came across the blurb for this book I was intrigued. After reading it I feel like I'm stuck somewhere in the middle between extremes. I didn't love it but I didn't hate it either. There were some things I really liked. Such as the overall story, the complexities of the characters, the darkness, the angst and the twists. As for what I didn't: I thought that both of the characters were pretty unlikable and I simply found the book clunky to read. This is my candid, volitional review.

"I’m not the hero. I’m the monster. The orphan boy gone bad. Cursed, everything broken." The blurb for Liarholic grabbed hold of this bully romance addict!

Dark romances somehow leave me more renewed than sweet romances. I think it's because the hero and heroine have major struggles to get to an HEA, if they get to an HEA.

What I also loved about this story; it introduced me to a new author that I am definitely checking her backlist! Can't wait to read more by Ms. Ash!

I received an advanced reader copy, and this is my honest and voluntary review.

I thought Liarholic was a good read it did take me some time to fall for the characters the hero mostly he really made me not like him that much but over all he character was complex . The heroine was a bit annoying at times she would do things that would irritate me but over all her character became likable . I thought the story line really drew me in even at times that I wanted to take a break I pushed through to the very end and was happy with the end result . I can't wait to read more by this author in the future Kingsley Ash writes to were it hooked me to a point .

A great dark and steamy read about two tragic and broken characters. So many secrets, pain and past traumas between them as well the crazy chemistry. A serious rollercoaster ride with plenty of mystery and suspense with twists and turns you just don't see coming! I felt so many emotions while reading this book. It was a slow burner but once I got in to it, I could not put it down. A really enjoyable read.
