UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State redshirt senior offensive lineman Juice Scruggs was tabbed to the Rimington Trophy watch list, announced by the Rimington Trophy Committee and Boomer Esiason Foundation, on Friday.
 
The Rimington Trophy is presented annually to the most outstanding center in NCAA Division I college football.

• Has appeared in 21 career games at Penn State, making 13 starts.
• Started all 13 games in 2021.
• Has showed off versatility, playing guard and center at Penn State.
• Was named All-Big Ten honorable mention by the coaches and media in 2021, while earning Pro Football Focus All-Big Ten third team honors.
• Earned the team's Dick Maginnis Memorial Award, recognizing the most outstanding offensive lineman.
• In 2020, earned the team's Tim Shaw Thrive Award, along with Journey Brown, presented to a Penn State football student-athlete who has overcome adversities and been an inspiration to his fellow teammates.
• Is a two-time Dean's List selection.

 
This year, the Rimington Trophy committee worked with Pro Football Focus to narrow down its list to the top 40 centers. Pro Football Focus grades players on every play of every game on how well they execute their given assignment.
 
The Rimington Trophy committee uses three All-America teams to determine a winner: Walter Camp Foundation, Sporting News and the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA). The center with the most first team votes will be determined the winner.
 
The namesake of the trophy, Dave Rimington, was a consensus first-team All-America center at Nebraska in 1981 and 1982. He became the John Outland Trophy's only two-time winner as the nation's finest college interior lineman.
