Ballerific Women: Black Female Executives Ring Opening Bell at NASDAQ (Video)

Some of the United States’ most powerful black female business executives rang the opening bell at NASDAQ Tuesday.

The businesswomen joined Black Women on Boards, a new global organization that removes the invisible obstacles that Black female executives face when pursuing board membership, to celebrate Patricia Roberts Harris, the first Black woman to serve on the board of directors in 1971 at IBM, a Fortune 500 company.

Among those on stage were 20 Black women who sit on the board of directors for publicly traded and privately held corporations, including Fawn Weaver (CEO/Founder, Uncle Nearest; board director, Endeavor, NYSE: EDR), Susan Chapman-Hughes (Former EVP, American Express; board director, Toast, Inc., NYSE: TOST, J.M. Smucker Co., NYSE: SJM), Richelle Parham, President of Business Development Universal Music Group; board director for Best Buy, NYSE: BBY, NYSE: ELF, NYSE: LH, Gina Loften, CTO, Microsoft; board director, TIAA,  Nichelle Maynard-Elliott, board director, Lucid Motors, NASDAQ: LCID.
