Biography
Norman Henry Finkelstein (1941-2024) was born November 10, 1941, in Chelsea, MA; son of Sydney and Mollie Finkelstein; married Rosalind Brandt (an electrologist), July 4, 1967; children: Jeffrey, Robert, Risa.
Education: Hebrew College, B.J.Ed., 1961, M.A., 1986; Boston University, B.S., 1963, Ed.M., 1964, C.A.G.S., 1983.
Career: Writer and educator. Brookline Public Schools, Brookline, MA, library media specialist, 1970-2005; Hebrew College, Brookline, part-time instructor, 1982--; Camp Yavneh, Northwood, NH, teacher, educational director, summers, 1982-89; Massachusetts Corporation for Educational Telecommunications, host of Thumbs Up--Thumbs Down (educational television program), 1990-95.
Awards: National Endowment for the Humanities fellowship, 1980; Holzman Award, Hebrew College, 1985, and Children's Book of the Year selection, Child Study Committee at Bank Street College, both for Remember Not to Forget; Children's Book of the Year selection, Child Study Committee at Bank Street College, for Theodor Herzl; Brookline Foundation grant, 1987; John F.
