How does it work?

Rooted in best practices for leadership development from Amanda’s 20 years of experience as a social change coach and consultant, the Women’s Leadership Incubator provides you with holistic support, coaching, and accountability to go big in your leadership. Here’s how it works:

1. You identify your leadership goals.

At the beginning of the program, you work individually and with the group to create 1-2 goals that you want to focus on. You'll also meet with Amanda one-on-one for a breakthrough coaching session to explore your goals, vision for leadership, possible barriers and ways past them.

2. You get bimonthly support & accountability from your group for 3 months in LIVE group sessions.

This is where the magic happens. Facilitated by Amanda, these live group sessions are your regular space to workshop challenges with your group, share your wins, face your fears, learn new skills, and receive coaching. You gain a personal think tank of advisors and champions that help you get to where you want to go.

3. You get regular video coaching from Amanda using Voxer

Maybe you hit a bump in the road and can't wait for the next group session. Or you just need a little extra encouragement when you fee stuck. Amanda supports you with regular video coaching for pressing challenges during the 3 months.

4. Get matched with a learning partner.

For additional networking and support, you will be matched with a learning partner or partners from your group. You choose together how you want to meet and when, with guidance from the Incubator.

5. Optional Bonus: Zoom Coworking

Sometimes it helps to do your work in the quiet company of others. For bonus accountability, WLI will run 1.5 hour drop in zoom co-working sessions during the course of the program. Drop in, share what you are working on - and get it done!

AND you will have access to recordings to all live group sessions, resources, tools and best practices we cover so that you can go back to your takeaways exactly when you need to.

What’s the tuition for WLI?

WLI is offered on a sliding scale from $1500 - $2500 depending on your individual and organization access to financial resources. Check out the criteria here to find the rate that best fits your/your organization’s resources.

I’m interested in doing this with a friend/colleague/teammate. Would that be ok?

Absolutely! If you have a colleague, friend or teammate that you want to do this with, the program is a great fit. You will be able to develop a shared language and skill set with one another.

I would like to ask my organization to pay for my participation as professional development. Do you have material I can provide that outlines the goals and outcomes of this program?

Definitely! We encourage all participants to use professional development funds to pay for this program. Please be in touch if you need documentation to show your employer or have questions about how to go about doing this.

Do I get to work with Amanda one-on-one?

Yes! In addition to the important work happening in your six LIVE group sessions, you will work with Amanda one-on-one during your individual coaching session at the beginning of the program, a mid-way check-in session, AND you have regular Voxer video coaching throughout to get support on questions/challenges specific to you.

What is Voxer?

Voxer is a free app that turns your phone or computer into a walkie-talkie. Using Voxer allows you to directly contact me in a private channel just for you, so that you can share ideas, ask questions, or get specific advice/coaching. Voxer enables you to reach out when you need the support and have a few minutes here or there, so you don't have to wait for our next group session if something comes up.

How many participants are in a cohort?

Cohorts are deliberately kept intimate to between 5 to 10 participants.

What kind of goals can I focus on in WLI?

Goals are wide-ranging from more personal to more professional. You define your goal with support from Amanda & the group. Past participants increased their fundraising, took on new leadership positions, restructured their boards, created new teams and more! Examples of goals past participants worked on include:

  • Identify new board members that will bring experience in fundraising to my board.
  • Raise $30,000 for organization by May 15.
  • Increase confidence in building relationships & supervising my direct reports.
  • Reduce my feelings of burnout & isolation in my role - bring joy back to my work.
  • Navigate my new role and increase my influence as a member of the senior leadership team.
  • Stop micromanaging my direct reports by adopting a coaching leadership style.

How do I know it's for me?

  • If you are in a position of leadership or influence in your organization and are ready to commit to taking your leadership to the next level, this is for you.
  • If you are ready to commit 2 hours/week for 12 weeks to go for your goals, this is for you.
  • If you are excited to deepen your reflection and coaching skills in a group program with other inspiring women leaders, this is for you.

Still not sure if this is it’s the right fit? Let’s chat – schedule a call with Amanda so she can address your questions.

What if I can’t attend the live group sessions?

We hope that you will attend all 6 sessions. However, we also know that life and work happen! We ask that you make the commitment to at least 5 of the 6 LIVE group sessions and clear your schedule to make that possible. All sessions are recorded and you will be able to watch a missed session on your own time.
If you know in advance that you will miss more than 1 group session, it may be better to wait for the next Incubator.

What's the structure for each session?

While the content will vary each LIVE session, the structure remains relatively the same. These key ingredients are integrated into the way we work together:

  • Resiliency and self-care practices
We will explore different mindfulness, movement, and grounding practices to help us settle in, get present and focused for our important work together.
  • Checking in on your goals
You will have exciting wins and also hit bumps in the road as you move forward. We want to hear about all of it! You will have a chance in every session to share wins, appreciations and challenges.
  • Leadership training
What got you here, won’t get you there! We integrate frameworks, exercises and training rooted in best-practices for going after your goals, including: Setting purposeful goals; Navigating your inner critic; Leading/influencing across difference and power; Cultivating self-care and sustainability. Other topics will be included based on the interests of the group.
  • Peer-coaching
Half of the fun is being able to learn from the incredible experiences and smarts of women in the group! We use peer coaching during our bi-monthly group sessions to support you in addressing the challenges and questions that surface along your leadership journey. You will both share your wisdom and also gain from the collective smarts of all the incredible leaders in your group.
  • Action planning
We are invested in your success. Every session is an opportunity to reflect on what’s working, what’s getting in your way and what’s the next step that you want to take to move forward on your goals.

What Members Say:

The most valuable take-away for me has been building my confidence and really recognizing how to mobilize the allies/accomplices who lift me up when I'm wavering - including the women within the cohort.

- Maura Ackerman

Facilitator, Syracuse-Onondoga Food Systems Alliance

The group was an amazing resource of committed thoughtful women who helped me push myself with love and care towards my goals. The accountability of this group of women helped me prioritize my goals and dedicate time in between our meetings.

- Ellie Axe

Executive Director, Story Starters

I have changed how I meet with and lead my 3 direct reports & how I support their leadership goals. One of my direct reports has taken on a LARGE project for the association due to this.

- Caitlin Gibbs

Hockomock Area YMCA
Senior Director of Health Innovation

"The group of women was dynamic, each pursuing careers with a different focus, but each mission-driven. Amanda created a safe welcoming environment, and everyone opened up immediately, sharing vulnerabilities and bonding. We got to know each other as a whole person, and how each person's career fit into their lives. I looked forward to each session, it felt so good to do something for myself and to be learning and growing with a group of caring women."

WLI Member

"I'm so appreciative of the validation I've gotten from this group: in coming together and hearing experiences and in confirmation that I've got it, I'm doing well, I'm doing things right. I've not sought out a group of women and had that opportunity for a long time, and I've really relished in that."

Executive Director, Aloha Foundation
