What Is the State of Black Maternal Health in Worcester: From Awareness to Action

Each year, Black Maternal Health is recognized from April 11th -17th to bring attention and action to improving Black Maternal Health. The week is held during National Minority Health Month. ​Founded and led by the Black Mamas Matter Alliance​, this week aims to build community awareness and activism as well as amplify ​the voices, perspectives, and lived experiences of Black Mamas and birthing people. 

As part of this year’s celebration, the Worcester Division of Public Health in collaboration with UMASS, UHAI for Health and the Massachusetts Organization of African Descendants will host an event: 

Black Maternal Health Week Celebration at Worcester City Hall 
Levi Lincoln Room, 3rd Floor 
455 Main Street Worcester, MA 01610 Or Virtually
Tuesday, April 16th from 8:30 AM -12:30 PM

This event will include a keynote speaker followed by a discussion with a panel of local experts who will be talking about the pressing issues surrounding Black Maternal Health in Worcester.
