Trump says China may have intentionally spread coronavirus

President Trump suggested that China may have deliberately spread the coronavirus to weaken competing economies.

“There’s a chance it was intentional,” Trump said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal published Thursday. Trump is among many critics who say China should have done more to stop the spread of the virus, moving more quickly in December and January.

The president stated that the United States was nearing the end of the pandemic and called testing for COVID-19 “overrated.” He also said that some people might wear masks not as a way to prevent the spread of the virus but as a way of expressing their disapproval of him.

Trump further claimed that a big problem with facial coverings is that people fidget with them.

“They put their finger on the mask, and they take them off, and then, they start touching their eyes and touching their nose and their mouth,” he said. “And then, they don’t know how they caught it?”
