Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a cost for this course?

No, the course is free.

Can I obtain Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credit for this course?

Yes. Overall, the course is worth 12 hours of CPE credit.

How is the course organized?

There are 5 modules as listed below:

Welcome and Pre-Test (1 CPE hour)

Domain III (3 CPE hours)

Domain I (2 CPE hours)

Domain II (4 CPE hours)

Practice Exam (2 CPE hours)

Do I have to complete all of the modules? Do I have to take the modules in order?

Each module generates its own certificate for the amount of CPE credits allotted. Once the Welcome and Pre-Test module has been completed, participants can follow the suggested order of the remaining modules or choose to complete all or some of the modules as they choose.

What does each module contain?

*The Welcome and Pre-Test module provides overview information on the course and the TExES ESL Supplemental #154 exam. It includes a pre-test for participants to gauge their prior knowledge.

*Modules for Domains I, II, and III contain activities for learning the necessary content with embedded reflections and checks for understanding. Each module for Domains I, II and III has a quiz at the end.

*The Practice Exam module contains 40 test questions that are intended to simulate the type of questions participants might see on the TExES ESL Supplemental #154 exam.

Do I need to pass the quiz/exam to receive a certificate of completion? Can I re-take the quiz/exam?

For the pre-test, no score requirement is needed in order to generate a certificate for the Welcome and Pre-Test module, so it is only taken once.

For the end-of-domain quizzes and the practice exam, a score of 70% is required in order to generate each module's certificate, so these tests can be re-taken as many times as needed.

Rationale for incorrect answers is provided throughout.

Is there a manual I can download to follow along with the course?

Yes, this preparation manual that was previously released is the foundation for the online course and can be used as a tandem resource.

Is this course self-paced? How long will it take?

The course is self-paced, but participants will have 8 weeks to complete the course before their registration times out. Overall, the course is worth 12 hours of CPE, but the time for course completion will depend on the time each participant takes in the reflection activities, end-of-domain quizzes and the final practice exam.
