Juanita Haugen, a nationally known public schools advocate and the longest-serving member ever of the Pleasanton school board, would be proud that the Community of Character program she established has become an ingrained part of our community. Juanita died on March 5, 2007 at age 69 after a long battle with cancer.

YMCA Recognizes Pleasanton's Community of Character Collaborative
The Pleasanton Community of Character Collaborative was presented with the "You are the Difference" award by the YMCA of the East Bay at the organization's 134th Annual Meeting & Volunteer Recognition Awards Ceremony on October 16, 2013.
The Collaborative's Joanne Gunson and Heather Rizzoli were given the award, recognizing the organization and its people for their hours of volunteerism.
The Collaborative is a non-profit organization of volunteers working together to create a Pleasanton community culture built on values, goodwill, and community accepted traits of Responsibility, Compassion, Self-Discipline, Honesty, Respect and Integrity.
The Community of Character Collaborative is jointly supported by the City of Pleasanton, Pleasanton Unified School District, Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce and various business, service and faith organizations.
