Dual Immersion Interest Survey

The Orange Unified School District is looking to start its 4th dual immersion program!  We currently have two Spanish programs and one Mandarin program (all the current programs have a pathway through 12th grade). Once in high school, the dual immersion classes run through a Career Technical Pathway (CTE). This new dual immersion program would start in kindergarten and grow one grade level each year.

Please fill out the survey below to help us gather data on this new program.

Thank you!

What are the Benefits of Immersion?

  1. Students achieve dual language proficiency in English and the target language while developing high level academic and career/college skills.
  2. Students develop respect and appreciation of other cultures and experience playing and working in multicultural settings.
  3. Biliterate skills give students the option for future careers utilizing their bilingual skills.
  4. Second-language study helps develop stronger critical thinking and reasoning skills which support the problem solving necessary for academic success.
  5. Neuroscience research has shown that studying a second language increases brain density (specifically in the frontal lobe which controls executive functioning) Bilinguals outperform monolinguals on general measures of executive function. Bilinguals pay focused attention without being distracted and have the ability to switch tasks.
