Workshops in Four COG Regions – Winter 2021

The Resilient Connecticut team (CIRCA, Milone & MacBroom, and Dewberry consultants) held their first regional workshops with four Council of Governments (COGs) in New Haven and Fairfield Counties. Workshops included two information sessions to learn about Change Vulnerability Index (CCVI) and Zones of Shared Risk (ZSR) findings.  Each session was followed by small group collaboration exercises to discuss, refine, and to better understand these tools for future resilience planning efforts. The inclusion of regional stakeholder input is an important component of shaping these tools, and ultimately identifying resilience pilot projects throughout the regions.

Preliminary map viewers (please use the feedback form below if you have comments or suggestions):

Climate Change Vulnerability Index Viewer

This preliminary CCVI viewer combined built, social, and ecological factors to identify areas that are vulnerable to flooding, wind, and heat related impacts of climate change.  This mapping tool can be used to view vulnerability at both a regional scale and specific sites to see how factors are contributing.  To see final flood and heat vulnerability viewers, see the CCVI page.

Zones of Shared Risk Viewer

"Zones of Shared Risk" (ZSR) are regions that face common flood, wind, or heat related climate challenges. A ZSR includes land, buildings, and infrastructure as well as the hydrological, ecological, social, and institutional elements that contribute to a place.
