Biography

2017-18: Played and started in all 28 games as a junior...All-MIAA Honorable Mention...one of nine players to land on the MIAA Academic Honor roll (3.7 GPA)...finished fifth in the conference in points (17.5) and free-throw percentage (86.6), while being eighth in field-goal percentage (42.9)...is only 130 points (870) from joining the 1,000-point club...caught a pass leading her to the left wing for a spot-up 3-pointer which she swished with .04 seconds remaining to secure a three-point victory for Southern over Lindenwood with score tied at 75-75 (12/9)...scored a season-high 29 points at Northeastern State (1/24) as part of nine other 20-plus point performances...registered double-digit scoring outputs in all but three games...grabbed a season-hight six rebounds on six occasions...shot a season best 8-for-11 (8-for-8 FT) from the field at Lincoln (1/13) to go along with a season-high 12 shots made at Northeastern as well. 

2016-17: Played in all 29 and started 26 games for the Lions...one of nine players to land on the MIAA Academic Honor roll...finished third on the team in points (10.3) and first on the squad in free-throw percentage (82.9)...shot 9-for-19 from the field for a career-high 22 points in a 70-56 win over Lincoln (Mo.) (12/8)...added 10 more double-digit scoring performances, including 21 points in a 71-70 victory over Northwest Missouri State (2/18) and 19 points in the season opener against Oklahoma Baptists for a 83-81 win (11/12)...registered a double-double against Evangel on New Years Eve with 17 points and 10 rebounds to assist the team in a 86-70 win...Her 10 rebounds were a season high, along with a season-high four steals at Northwest Missouri (1/5).

2015-16: Played in 27 games with one start for the Lions...played a season-high 21 minutes in an 84-47 win over Avila on Nov. 24...shot a season best 63 percent from the field in back-to-back games against Avila and Illinois-Springfield (Nov. 28) and went 2-for-2 from three point range at Lincoln on Jan. 21...Henry was a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line as the Lions upset then third-ranked Emporia State in Joplin on Dec. 16...a season best four rebounds came against the Prairie Stars of UIS and Henry dished out a pair of assists in the 78-38 win at Lincoln...she scored in double figures three times during the season with 10 points coming at Lincoln, 11 vs. Avila, and a career-high 12 against UIS.

Prior to Southern: Chelsey played basketball for the Lady Wildcats for four years under Coaches Lance Robbins and Grant Berendt. Henry earned first team All-COC and All-District honors her junior and senior seasons. Henry was also selected as the MVP of the Neosho Holiday Tournament twice, while being named to both the KURM basketball dream team and the Joplin Lady Eagle Classic All-Tournament team. Chelsey also set the Neosho High School record for most points in a season twice, during both her junior and senior campaigns, finishing with 528 her senior year.  She finished her career with 1,335 points and 587 rebounds, averaging 20.5 points per game. Chelsey also played volleyball and ran track for the Wildcats, earning Academic All-State in volleyball.

Personal: the daughter of Tom and Lana Henry, both MSSU alumni, and is one of seven children. She plans to major in education at Southern and her father played baseball for Crowder College in Neosho.
