STATEMENT OF POLICY

A formal final mode of evaluation, which may be assessed in the form of a final examination is required in all courses. Final Examinations must be administered during final examinations week. Only in-class final exams will be scheduled by the Office of the University Registrar. Take home final examinations are to be submitted during final examinations week, due at a time designated by the instructor; these examinations do not require an in-class scheduled exam.

Courses with four or more sections may be grouped for a common exam if the department so wishes. There are several common exam periods during the week, and one will be assigned for a particular course.

ENTITIES AFFECTED BY THIS POLICY

All students except those in JD and MD degree programs

NOTES / CONSIDERATIONS

PROCESS

  • If scheduled, undergraduate students are expected to take up to two exams in one day.
  • On occasion, an undergraduate student may have three or more exams scheduled for one day. If this is the case, students may request relief by having one of the three or more examinations administered on a different day according to the following procedures. This request may be made to the Office of the University Registrar at least three days before the scheduled examination date. While examinations for undergraduate and graduate level courses are considered in the determination of final examination conflicts, only undergraduate level examinations are eligible to be rescheduled.
    • In the fall and spring terms, the courses with higher course numbers will be asked to give a special exam (MKTG 346 is higher than ACCT 111).
    • In the winter and summer terms, the courses with lower course numbers will be asked to give the special exam (ACCT 111 is lower than MKTG346).
  • To request relief, students should download the appeal form and submit it to the Office of the University Registrar located in Curtis Hall, Rm 261, at least three (3) days before the conflicting examination(s) are scheduled.
