Two years, 24 months, 730 days. As I write this article to you, I am nearing the end of my two-year term as your NRWA Board President. Looking back on that time, I can say without a doubt it was an unprecedented time to serve. I was elected as the Board President in September 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic. I remember the meeting well, the lengths we went to in order to incorporate all members of our Board, whether in person or virtually, and the hybrid election as well. I was honored when the results were announced that I would be serving as NRWA's Board President for the next two years.

While the pandemic certainly made it challenging, the achievements that Rural Water has accomplished over the course of the past two years have been well worth it. In February 2021, NRWA maintained its strong legislative advocacy by hosting the first-ever completely virtual Rural Water Rally. While meetings were not conducted in person, the results of our grassroots efforts were still just as strong! One to note, in particular, was the addition of the EPA Wastewater Program, which only solidified NRWA's commitment to our core business of water and wastewater. We were fortunate to hold the 2021 WaterPro Conference in person in Milwaukee last September and be the first water industry association to return to an in-person conference. It was so great to see everyone and spend time with our Rural Water family.

The 2022 Rural Water Rally was held in person in Washington, D.C., and I know all those who attended and represented the interests of our industry did an excellent job, especially many who were managing not only in-person meetings but virtual as well. Those who attended might have also noticed a change for NRWA, one I am proud to have helped lead: our D.C. Office. While we are still at 101 Constitution, we have moved offices and renovated the new space! This new space will be a great benefit to our D.C. staff, and we hope you visit the next time you are in our nation's capital.

I have spent 26 years in the Rural Water industry and serving as your President has truly been a highlight of my career. I am excited for the future of Rural Water and know that our leadership will continue to push us forward to achieve our goals in the legislative and regulatory arena, as well as boots-on-the-ground support. I look forward to seeing each and every one of you at WaterPro Conference this fall in National Harbor, Maryland. Thank you for all you do and making my time as NRWA Board President so exceptional! RW
