Computer Science Education Week is finally here! (December 5th-11th)! Howard County Public School teachers and students are getting ready to actively participate in The Hour of Code event during technology classes, Media classes, and beyond. This event focuses on giving students and staff an opportunity to understanding what computer programming is and just how many doors it may open if they continue to learn about it.
Our PreK-5 students here at EES will be taught how computers and robots need to be programmed by being coded with step by step directions (algorithms) in a proper sequence in order to be successful. We are encouraging students to work beyond the one hour event and practicing coding at home too! Keep reading for how we'll do this.
Throughout the Computer Science Education Week, students are encouraged to practice coding from any of the activities on the pages here or in their technology teacher's code.org Canvas Course. They can also code robots if available to them at home, or code on a tablet or phone with free apps like Tynker, Scratch Jr, Code.org, Hopscotch, or others. Now get coding!
