2021 Los Angeles Portfolio Project Mentor Application

2021 Los Angeles Portfolio Project Mentor Application

About the Los Angeles Portfolio Project

UNCF Los Angeles will be hosting the 2nd annual UNCF Portfolio Project here in Southern California. The mission of the Portfolio Project is to increase the number of minority and low-income college and scholarship applicants from the Southern California area. Ultimately, the program pairs students with college-educated mentors from their community who strive to ensure these students create a portfolio of their application materials that will support their efforts in getting accepted into college and receiving the necessary financial assistance to become successful college graduates.

Mentor Information

Once accepted, mentors will be matched with 2-3 high school seniors. The mentor-student relationship extends beyond the sessions and provides the students with models of success who understand the importance of giving back to the community. Mentors are expected to attend each Saturday session with their students and provide support outside of the sessions to help students complete required assignments and provide general support as needed. Saturday sessions will meet from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. from Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021 until Dec. 4, 2021.
