Welcome to the Department of Educational Psychology
The University of Connecticut stands among the top public universities in the nation. The Department of Educational Psychology within UConn’s Neag School of Education is ranked by U.S. News & World Report at No. 17 in the nation for our special education concentration, and is one of the University’s most productive departments. We offer Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Arts degrees in Educational Psychology with concentrations in:
- Counselor Education and Counseling Psychology
- Giftedness, Creativity, and Talent Development
- Learning Sciences
- Research Methods, Measurement and Evaluation
- School Psychology
- Special Education
We also offer a Master of Arts in Educational Psychology with concentration in Educational Technology.

Ray and Carole Neag’s transformational gift in 1999 was a catalyst for the massive, two-phase addition and renovation to the Gentry Building in the 2000s

The editor-reviewed, open-access, annual journal is founded and run by graduate students at the Neag School and has published four articles in its Spring 2024 issue

The Neag School department had the highest research expenditures across the Storrs and regional campuses in Fiscal Year 2023

Christopher Esposito, Neag School doctoral candidate in the Department of Educational Psychology, prepared the following rapid research brief with the Center for Education Policy Analysis, Research, and Evaluation (CEPARE). This research brief describes best practices for ensuring success for students entering institutions of higher education today.

Joseph Madaus, professor of special education in the Department of Educational Psychology, co-edited the recently published “Handbook of Higher Education and Disability” through Edward Elgar Publishing. This 10 Questions feature covers his work and research in higher education accessibility for students with disabilities.

About the Workshop
This workshop offers UConn graduate students a unique opportunity to learn about human rights practice from Charlie Clements, a notable human rights campaigner/practitioner on the global stage. Using examples from his lifetime of experience and achievement, Charlie will discuss what it takes to start and maintain a successful social movement, with an emphasis on having dialogue with students about how to turn these lessons into future successes in their own human rights work.
About the Facilitator
As President of Physicians for Human Rights, Charlie Clements, MD, MPH was a key member of the coalition that produced the international treaty to ban landmines that won the Nobel Peace Prize. As a medical practitioner during the civil wars in Central America in the 1980s, Charlie inspired an Oscar-winning documentary about his work. Clements has also served as the Director of the Carr Center for Human Rights at the Harvard Kennedy School
